Application YouTube mise à jour avec prise en charge HDR sur PlayStation 5

Owners of the Sony PlayStation 5 can now enjoy YouTube streaming in HDR10 format as a result of a recent app update.

YouTube HDR on PS5

As highlighted in our extensive PlayStation 5 review, Sony's latest game console has a number of shortcomings when it comes to media playback and streaming such as missing support for frame rate matching, dynamic range matching, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and of course YouTube HDR. In April 2021, Sony released a system update to add support for dynamic range matching (switching between SDR / HDR10 depending on the source). As spotted by FlatpanelsHD reader Aha, the YouTube app has now also been updated to support HDR (High Dynamic Range), specifically HDR10 video in the VP9-2 codec (see photo). On PlayStation 5, HDR is supported for YouTube videos in up to 4K 60fps.
